Anytime you hold an outdoor event, you face the risk of running afoul of the weather. Unfortunately, that is precisely what happened at the second night of the South By So What Fall Edition festival. Although billed as a rain or shine event, heavy electrical storms forced organizers to shut the event down early for the safety of the performers and their fans.

The Austin Vampire Ball was held on October 19, 2013 at Elysium in Austin, TX. Hosted by Logan South and Daley Catherine Hodges, the king and Queen of Austin, the show featured Diminished 7 from Los Angeles, burlesque performances, a costume contest, and a variety of local vendors.

The Eagles Bring Their History Lesson to Dallas

School is in session with The Eagles. Celebrating over 40 years in existence and last year’s documentary “The History of the Eagles,” they have been on the road for months on the tour of the same name. They finally arrived in Dallas with shows on Friday and Saturday, October 11-12. With a set running over three hours, the band touched on the highlights of its past with sentimentalism, humor, and a lot of truly classic music.

Vans Warped Tour braves the Texas heat

It takes a dedicated fan to stand in the sun all day in 106-degree weather for a music festival. On Friday, August 2, approximately 18,000 of these hardcore fans converged on Gexa Energy Pavilion in Fair Park for the 2013 Vans Warped Tour. They braved the heat with good reason: with over 100 bands on nine stages, this is one of the biggest live music events to hit Dallas every year.

Valient Thorr, Gypsyhawk, Ramming Speed

Blistering metal at Three Links

One word that doesn’t spring to mind when thinking of metal acts Valient Thorr, Gypsyhawk, and Ramming Speed is “mellow.” And yet, the show featuring these bands at Three Links in Deep Ellum on Thursday, June 27, started out as precisely that. Whether it was due to the oppressive heat outside, or the house music featuring such metal favorites as Michael Bublé, there was a distinctly mellow vibe while waiting for the show to start.
